Hostinger Horizons vs Lovable: Which AI Builder Should You Pay For in 2026?

By Ashikur Rahman20 min read

Quick answer: Hostinger Horizons is now called Hostinger AI Builder, and it is sold as a web hosting plan with AI credits on top: $2.49, $3.49 or $7.99 a month on a 48-month term in Hostinger's Black Friday sale on 28 October 2026. Lovable works the other way round. It sells credits, from $25 a month for 100, and hosting comes with them. Over four years, Hostinger's Premium plan costs $119.52 upfront against $1,000 for Lovable Pro on annual billing. Lovable gives you more for that money: Git sync on every plan, team workspaces, and a clear rule that you can leave whenever you like. Hostinger is far cheaper for a small business site, but its own pages contradict each other on how its AI credits work, and if the plan lapses the project is deleted.

Horizons is now Hostinger AI Builder

If you search for Hostinger Horizons today, hostinger.com/horizons redirects to hostinger.com/ai-builder, and the page title reads "Hostinger AI Builder | Launch your own websites and apps". The pricing and upgrade pages redirect the same way. Hostinger's FAQ explains the change: the product "evolved from merging our website builder and Horizons into a single builder with two modes", Manual for drag-and-drop editing and Agentic for vibe coding.

That merge matters for this comparison, because the part of the product that competes with Lovable is now only one of its two modes.

  • Manual mode is the old drag-and-drop website builder with AI help for text, images and product descriptions. Hostinger says "Manual mode doesn't use AI credits" and that it is ideal for "small to medium websites", such as stores, portfolios and blogs.
  • Agentic mode is what Horizons used to be: you describe the site or app in a chat, and the AI writes it. Hostinger says "In Agentic mode, each action uses credits". It recommends this mode for web apps, CRMs, membership sites, portals and anything with user logins.

Lovable has only the second kind of building. You describe what you want in its chat, it writes the code, and you keep asking for changes. Lovable's pricing FAQ calls it "an AI software engineer, which enables anyone to build for the web." So the fair comparison is Lovable against Hostinger's Agentic mode, while remembering that a Hostinger buyer also gets a drag-and-drop builder that never touches credits.

The Hostinger buttons and links pay CriticNest a cash commission if you buy, and you get 20% off through Hostinger's referral program. The Lovable invite link pays CriticNest in Lovable credits, not cash, when someone who signs up through it pays for a plan. Neither costs you anything extra. CriticNest itself runs on Lovable, so read the Lovable sections knowing the author has a working site there. Every price below was read on 28 October 2026, on Hostinger's pages and in its checkout and on Lovable's pricing page and documentation, in US dollars and before tax. Ashikur Rahman, who writes CriticNest, is a Hostinger Partner through his agency Proximity Ranker, and the Hostinger links in this article use his referral code, 9MFASHIKUSCB, which also works as a coupon code at Hostinger checkout.

How each one charges you

The two products bill from opposite ends, and most confusion about which is cheaper starts here.

Hostinger sells hosting and adds credits. The three AI Builder plans are Hostinger's ordinary web hosting plans: Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup. Hostinger says the builder "requires hosting to keep your website or web app live", and that if you already have an active hosting plan, "AI Builder is already included". Each plan includes a domain for the first year, business email and a built-in back end. The AI credits are what limit how much you can build in Agentic mode.

Lovable sells credits and adds hosting. Lovable's plans are priced by how many credits they include each month, not by seats or sites. Its FAQ says "Workspaces support unlimited members on all plans, and plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats." Hosting is paid from the same balance, but every plan includes a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits to cover it. On hosting cost, Lovable says "For most users with smaller or new apps, hosting (running an app on Lovable) does not cost anything".

In practice, a Hostinger customer pays mostly for the hosting term and can build a fair amount before credits run short. A Lovable customer pays mostly for the building, and a site that is finished and rarely edited costs about the same each month as one under heavy development, unless the plan is dropped back to a smaller tier.

What Hostinger AI Builder costs

The plan cards default to a 48-month term. These prices were on the cards and in the checkout on 28 October 2026, during the Black Friday sale that Hostinger runs from 19 October to 14 December 2026. The Hostinger Black Friday guide covers the sale itself.

PlanWebsitesSale price, 48 monthsPaid upfrontRenewal in the cartAI credits on the card
PremiumUp to 3$2.49 a month$119.52$10.99 a month for 12 months500 instead of 250
UnlimitedUnlimited$3.49 a month$167.52$16.99 a month for 48 months1000 instead of 500
Cloud StartupUnlimited$7.99 a month$383.52$25.99 a month for 12 months2000 instead of 1000

Shorter terms cost more a month. In the checkout, Premium is $3.99 a month on 12 months ($47.88 upfront), Unlimited is $4.99 ($59.88) and Cloud Startup is $9.99 ($119.88). Month to month they are $12.19, $18.99 and $27.99, which are also the struck-through prices on the cards. Hostinger's footnote says "All plans are paid upfront", and its prices are shown without VAT.

Read the renewal line in the cart, not on the card. All three cards say the plan "Renews at" its rate "for the same term". The checkout agrees only for Unlimited, which renews after 48 months at $16.99 a month for 48 months. Premium and Cloud Startup on the 48-month term say "Renews after 48 months at $10.99/mo for 12 months" and "at $25.99/mo for 12 months". This is the same mismatch the Hostinger and Bluehost comparison runs into on Hostinger's ordinary hosting pages, and the cart is the one you agree to when you pay.

Two more lines matter. The ecommerce add-on on Premium is "$1 for 3 months, renews at $8.99/mo." And the money-back guarantee carries a condition specific to this product: "All paid plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, as long as fewer than 1,500 AI credits have been used." Hostinger now counts credits at 50 new credits for each old one, so 1,500 is the equivalent of 30 credits on the old scale.

What Lovable costs

Lovable lists three self-serve plans and Enterprise. Pro and Business both start at 100 credits a month, and you can move up to bigger credit tiers from a dropdown on the plan card. These figures are from Lovable's pricing page and its "Subscription plans" documentation on 28 October 2026.

PlanMonthly creditsBilled monthlyBilled annuallyWhat it adds
Free5 a day, up to 30 a month$0$0Unlimited collaborators, 5 lovable.app domains, Git sync
Pro100$25$250 ($21 a month)Custom domains, code editing and download, badge removal, rollovers, top-ups
Business100$50$500 ($42 a month)SSO, security center, workspace publish, priority support
EnterpriseVolume basedContractAudit logs, SCIM, EU inference, custom SLA

Higher tiers scale in steps. Pro with 200 credits is $50 a month or $500 a year, 400 credits is $100 or $1,000, and the top Pro tier of 10,000 credits is $2,250 a month or $22,500 a year. Lovable's documentation says "Annual billing gives you two months free compared with paying monthly."

On top of the plan credits, Pro and Business get 5 daily build credits that expire each day, and unlike Free they have no monthly cap. Extra credits cost $0.25 each on Pro, so "$10 converts to 40 credits", and $0.50 each on Business. Lovable is blunt that "Credits aren't refundable or redeemable for cash or any other value." Unused plan credits roll over for a while: monthly plan credits expire "two (2) months after they're issued", and top-ups last twelve months.

Students and teachers get 50% off Pro with 100 credits, billed monthly, for up to 12 months. The guide to building on Lovable without burning credits covers how to stretch a small balance, including the fact that edits you make in your own code editor and push through Git cost no Lovable credits at all.

First year and four years, side by side

Here are the entry plans compared on the terms each company pushes hardest: Hostinger's 48-month sale term and Lovable's annual billing.

PeriodHostinger PremiumHostinger UnlimitedLovable Pro, 100 credits
First year on a 12-month term$47.88$59.88$250 annual, or $300 paid monthly
Four years$119.52 (48-month term)$167.52 (48-month term)$1,000 annual, or $1,200 paid monthly
The year after$131.88 (12 x $10.99)$815.52 for the next 48 months$250 again

Five years of Hostinger Premium come to $251.40, which is about what one year of Lovable Pro costs. On price alone, the question is settled before features come into it.

What the table cannot show is how much you can build for the money, because the two companies count credits in units that have nothing to do with each other. That is the next section, and it is where the cheaper plan stops being the obvious choice.

Compare the AI Builder terms in Hostinger's checkoutReferral link. The code 9MFASHIKUSCB also works as a coupon. The 48-month term is where the doubled credits apply.

Why the credit numbers cannot be compared

A Hostinger plan with 500 credits and a Lovable plan with 100 credits are not five times apart. The units are different sizes, and both companies say the cost of a request depends on how complex it is.

  • Hostinger's scale. Hostinger says "a simple business page usually takes 250-500 AI credits, while a more complex web app like a SaaS tool or internal productivity tool takes 750 AI credits or more on average." Its credits support article adds that "The number of credits deducted varies between requests, even for requests of similar complexity," and that "All messages are included in the calculation, including general inquiries and non-coding interactions."
  • Lovable's scale. Lovable publishes example costs: "Make the button gray" is 0.50 credits, "Remove the footer" is 0.90, "Add authentication with sign up and login" is 1.20, and "Build me a landing page, use images" is 1.70. Plan mode costs 1 credit per message.

By Hostinger's own estimate, the 250 credits on the Premium card cover roughly one simple business page in Agentic mode. At Lovable's example prices, 100 credits would pay for 58 runs of its landing-page prompt, or a long run of smaller edits. Neither estimate is a promise, and real projects rarely take one prompt. Still, on each vendor's own examples, the gap in build capacity runs the opposite way to the gap in price.

Hostinger's pages also contradict each other on three credit questions, and a buyer should know that before paying.

  1. Monthly or one-time? The pricing FAQ says the plans "vary in both features and monthly AI credits", and the upgrade page says "Your AI credit limit refreshes monthly." The footnote under the same cards calls the doubled Black Friday amount "a one-time gift of double the usual credits with a 48-month plan", and only the 48-month cart shows an "AI Credits" line, priced at $0.
  2. Included or separate? The pricing pages present credits as part of the hosting plan. The support article on credits, updated a week before this check, says "You need an active hosting plan to create and publish projects, plus an AI credit plan that adds a set number of AI credits to that balance."
  3. Do manual edits cost credits? The AI Builder FAQ says you can edit text and images in the content editor "without touching your balance". The support article says "Manual edits made in Select & edit mode, such as changing text or replacing an image, also deduct a small number of credits from your balance."

The checkout values the bundled credits at $2.50 for 500, which works out to $0.005 a credit, against Lovable's top-up price of $0.25. Do not read that as Hostinger being fifty times cheaper per unit of work, because one Hostinger credit buys far less than one Lovable credit. After buying, open the AI Credits Usage view in the project menu. It shows the monthly balance, the next reset date and each top-up with its expiry date, and it is the only place that tells you which reading of the terms applies to your account.

What you can do for free

Both products let you try them without a card.

Hostinger: "both building modes can be tested for free, no card required. For conversational building, you get 250 free AI credits to start." On Hostinger's own estimate, that is at most one simple page in Agentic mode. Going live needs hosting, because the builder "requires hosting to keep your website or web app live".

Lovable: the Free plan gives "a daily grant of 5 build credits (up to 30 a month), plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits", which means six days of daily credits before the monthly cap. It includes unlimited collaborators, five lovable.app domains and Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket. Custom domains, editing code inside Lovable, downloading code and removing the "Edit with Lovable" badge all need Pro.

On each vendor's own estimates, Lovable's free plan allows more building, spread over a month, while Hostinger's free credits go into roughly a single attempt.

Owning the code and leaving

This is where the two differ most, and it matters more than the price for anyone building something they expect to keep.

Hostinger says "You can edit or export the complete source code at any time and take it with you." The pricing FAQ narrows that: "With any paid Hostinger AI Builder plan, you can download the code whenever you need - currently, this is available in Agentic mode." A site built in Manual mode has to be switched to Agentic mode first. The same FAQ carries the warning that matters most: "if your hosting plan expires and isn't renewed, your project will no longer be accessible and all data will be permanently deleted". The export is a download you take, not a copy that stays in sync, so a lapsed card on a renewal date is a real risk to the project.

Lovable lists Git sync with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket on every plan, including Free. It is a two-way sync into a repository you own, so the code lives outside Lovable from the first day. Its hosting documentation says "Lovable is intentionally built so that you are never locked in. You can export your code, migrate your data, self-host parts or all of your stack, or move to another provider at any time." It also says the backend can move to "Managed Supabase, self-hosted Supabase, or other PostgreSQL-based backends".

Both companies say you own the code. The difference is what happens when something goes wrong. A Lovable project synced to GitHub survives a cancelled plan in your own repository, while a Hostinger project survives only if you downloaded it before the plan expired.

Where this comes from: the Lovable side is backed by a working site. CriticNest has run on Lovable since 19 September 2026, synced to a GitHub repository that holds the code this page is built from. Nothing on this page comes from using Hostinger AI Builder; that side is read from Hostinger's pages, support articles and checkout.

Backend, domains, email and payments

Hostinger's case rests on getting everything on one bill. It says every plan includes "Hosting, a domain, and business email", "A built-in back end, so there's no separate database or server setup needed", and "Stripe payments". PayPal, AdSense and other APIs can be connected, though "integrations are limited in Manual mode". The domain is free for the first year on annual or longer terms, and Premium includes two mailboxes per website free for one year. For a cafe, a clinic or a consultant who wants a site, an email address and a booking form from one company, that bundle is the reason to choose Hostinger.

Lovable covers the same ground differently. It has a built-in backend it calls Cloud, with a database, storage, authentication and AI features, paid from the shared credit balance after the monthly grants run out. Custom domains need Pro. Lovable's plans do not list business email, so expect to set up a mailbox with another provider. The payoff is control: connectors, an npm package registry on Enterprise, team roles, and code you can work on in any editor.

Neither one builds native phone apps. Hostinger says it "doesn't currently support building native mobile apps for the App Store or Google Play", and offers responsive web apps instead.

An AI-built site that search engines cannot read is worth little, so this question decides more than it seems to.

Lovable publishes the details. New Lovable apps created from 13 May 2026 use TanStack Start with server-side rendering, so the HTML that Google and AI crawlers fetch already contains the page text. Older Lovable apps built with React and Vite render in the browser, and the guide to whether Lovable is good for SEO explains what that means and how to move an older project across. The Lovable SEO settings guide walks through titles, descriptions, canonicals and sitemaps. CriticNest is a TanStack Start site on Lovable, and when it moved there on 19 September 2026 every page was checked to return its full text in the HTML that Googlebot receives.

Hostinger says "Built-in SEO tools help your site get discovered across Google and AI search, with no plugins to manage." It publishes nothing about how Agentic mode apps are rendered or which framework they use. Before you commit a business site to it, publish a test page, view its source in your browser and check that the text is in the HTML. If the source shows an empty container and a script tag, search engines depend on running that script to see your content.

What Lovable's own comparison page gets wrong now

On 28 October 2026, the page ranking for "hostinger horizons vs lovable" was Lovable's own guide, served in ten languages. It says it was "Published December 4, 2025" and that "The information in this article reflects the features and pricing as of December 2025." Several of its claims no longer match Hostinger's pages.

  • It prices Horizons at "Explorer at $6.99/month: 30 AI credits with hosting and SSL included." No Explorer plan appears on the pricing page now, entry is $2.49 a month on 48 months, and credits are counted on a scale 50 times larger.
  • It says "Hostinger Horizons connects to Supabase as an external service requiring manual setup." Hostinger now advertises "A built-in back end" on every plan.
  • It says "Hostinger Horizons publishes exclusively to Hostinger infrastructure." Hostinger now says you "can export your code and self-host it on any other platform", although only from Agentic mode on a paid plan.
  • It counts "150+ designer templates". The plan cards now list "400+ website templates".

Lovable's broader point, that Hostinger puts simplicity first and Lovable puts control first, still holds. But a vendor's comparison of its rival is a sales page, and this one is ten months out of date. The same caution applies here: Hostinger pays CriticNest in cash and Lovable pays in credits, so every claim on this page is quoted from the vendor's own words, with the date.

Which one to pay for

The choice depends on the kind of project more than on the price.

Pick Hostinger AI Builder if you want a business website, a portfolio, a small store or a booking site, you do not code, and you want hosting, domain, email and the builder from one company. Premium on 48 months is the cheapest serious way to get an AI-built site online, and Manual mode lets you keep editing without spending credits. Choose Unlimited if you need more than three sites or ecommerce included, and its 48-month renewal is the only one of the three that runs for the full term in the cart. Save a code export somewhere safe, and put the renewal date in a calendar.

Pick Lovable if you are building a web app, a tool or a product that will keep changing, you want the code in your own Git repository from the start, or more than one person will build together. It costs more, but on Lovable's published examples its credits go much further per request, and leaving takes a Git clone rather than a rescue. The Lovable and Webflow comparison for client sites covers the case where you are building for someone else.

Not sure yet? Both are free to try. Spend Hostinger's 250 free credits on one page and Lovable's daily credits over a week on the same brief, then compare the result and the page source. The roundup of AI website builders covers the other tools that turn up in the same searches.

What neither company publishes

  • Hostinger does not say plainly whether the 250, 500 and 1,000 credits on its cards arrive every month or once, or whether a separate AI credit plan is needed. Its pages say both.
  • Hostinger does not publish top-up prices outside the account. Its support article says only that "Top-ups are more expensive per credit than subscriptions", that they "expire 3 months after purchase if unused", and that they start at 500 credits.
  • Hostinger does not say which framework Agentic mode writes or how it renders pages for crawlers.
  • Lovable does not publish what a typical full website costs in credits. Its examples are single prompts, and its FAQ says the value of a credit depends on the plan and the feature used.
  • Neither publishes uptime or speed figures for AI-built projects that CriticNest could check, and none were measured for this article.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hostinger Horizons the same as Hostinger AI Builder?

Yes. Hostinger merged Horizons with its website builder into one product called Hostinger AI Builder, and hostinger.com/horizons now redirects there. The Horizons-style chat building is the Agentic mode; the old drag-and-drop builder is the Manual mode.

How much does Hostinger Horizons cost now?

On 28 October 2026 the plans were Premium at $2.49 a month, Unlimited at $3.49 and Cloud Startup at $7.99, each on a 48-month term paid upfront ($119.52, $167.52 and $383.52). They renew at $10.99, $16.99 and $25.99 a month, and the checkout shows how long each renewal term runs.

How much does Lovable cost?

Lovable Free is $0 with 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month. Pro is $25 a month or $250 a year for 100 monthly credits, and Business is $50 a month or $500 a year. Bigger credit tiers go up to 10,000 credits a month, and Pro top-ups cost $0.25 a credit.

Which is cheaper, Hostinger AI Builder or Lovable?

Hostinger, by a wide margin on the price of the plan: four years of Premium cost $119.52, against $1,000 for Lovable Pro on annual billing. Lovable's credits cover far more building per credit, though, so for an app that needs many rounds of changes the gap narrows.

Can I export my code from Hostinger AI Builder?

Yes, on a paid plan and from Agentic mode only. A Manual mode site must be switched to Agentic mode first. Hostinger says that if the hosting plan expires and is not renewed, the project and all its data are permanently deleted, so keep your own copy.

Does Lovable lock you in?

Lovable says it is "intentionally built so that you are never locked in". Git sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket is on every plan, including Free, and the code and data can be moved to your own hosting or another backend provider.

Do Hostinger AI credits roll over or reset monthly?

Hostinger's support article says credits "reset monthly at the start of your next AI credit plan billing cycle", and its upgrade page says the limit "refreshes monthly". The same cards call the doubled Black Friday amount a one-time gift on 48-month plans. Check the AI Credits Usage view after buying to see which applies to you.

Does Hostinger AI Builder have a free plan?

You can test both modes free without a card, with 250 free AI credits for Agentic mode. Keeping a site live needs a hosting plan. Paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee if fewer than 1,500 AI credits have been used.

Can either one build a mobile app?

Hostinger says AI Builder does not support native apps for the App Store or Google Play; it builds responsive web apps that work on phones. Lovable also builds for the web. Both produce sites and apps that run in a mobile browser.

Is Lovable or Hostinger AI Builder better for SEO?

Lovable documents that new apps since 13 May 2026 are server-side rendered with TanStack Start, so crawlers receive full HTML. Hostinger advertises built-in SEO tools but does not publish how Agentic mode pages are rendered, so check a test page's source before relying on it.

Transparency: every price, plan limit and quotation on this page was read on 28 October 2026 from Hostinger's AI Builder pages, its checkout for all three plans and every term, its referral program page and its support article on AI credits, and from Lovable's pricing page and its documentation on plans, credits, ownership and referrals, in US dollars. Hostinger pays CriticNest a cash commission and Lovable pays it in credits. No first-hand claim is made about Hostinger AI Builder, and nothing was load-tested or timed. Where a vendor's pages disagree, both versions are quoted. Ashikur Rahman sells SEO and website services, which is a commercial interest you should weigh.
