What are TidyCal and Cal.com?
TidyCal is a simple scheduler built by Sumo Group, the company behind AppSumo. It launched in 2021 and sells mainly through lifetime deals: $29 for one person, $79 for a team of four. It leans toward solo service businesses, with paid bookings, session packages, subscriptions and a small digital storefront built in. Our is TidyCal worth it review covers it in depth.
Cal.com is a scheduling platform that started as an open-source Calendly alternative and now sells per-seat plans from Teams to Enterprise. It leans toward teams and companies, with routing forms, CRM sync, SSO, compliance certifications and an API. It also releases software under an open-source license that you can host yourself.
See the TidyCal deal on AppSumoTracking link. $29 once for one person, $79 once for a team of four.
Which is cheaper, TidyCal or Cal.com?
For one person who doesn't need paid features, both are free. For teams, TidyCal is far cheaper because it charges once.
| Plan | TidyCal | Cal.com |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0, 1 user |
| Solo paid | Individual Lifetime: $29 once | No solo tier; Teams at $12 per user a month, yearly |
| Small team | Agency Lifetime: $79 once, you plus 3 | Teams: $12 per user a month, yearly |
| No branding, own domain | Pro: $12 a month or $99 a year | Teams removes branding; Organizations adds a company subdomain |
| Company plan | None | Organizations: $28 per user a month, yearly |
| Enterprise | None | Custom |
Cal.com's page shows yearly prices with "Save 25%," so month-to-month billing costs more. The monthly figures weren't on the page when we read it.
Three-year cost for a team of four
| Option | Year 1 | 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| TidyCal Agency Lifetime | $79 | $79 |
| TidyCal Pro, yearly (includes Agency features, no fee, no branding) | $99 | $297 |
| Cal.com Teams, 4 seats, yearly | $576 | $1,728 |
| Cal.com Organizations, 4 seats, yearly | $1,344 | $4,032 |
TidyCal's 1% fee narrows that gap only if your team takes a lot of payments. A team on Agency would need to collect about $57,600 a year through TidyCal before the 1% fee equals the $576 Cal.com Teams bill. Pro's own pricing page says it includes "everything in Agency," so a team that wants no fee and no branding can pay $99 a year instead.
Which free plan is better?
Winner: Cal.com, for most people.
Cal.com Free gives one user unlimited event types and unlimited calendars, email and SMS notifications, 100+ app integrations, a mobile app and browser extension, Stripe and PayPal payments, two-way Salesforce and HubSpot sync, and a one-click Calendly importer. Workflows on Free are limited to templates.
TidyCal Free gives unlimited bookings and booking types, paid bookings, recurring and package bookings, subscriptions, discount codes, a digital storefront, post-booking reviews, date polls and translation. It connects only one calendar and takes 1% of payments.
If you keep separate work and personal calendars, Cal.com Free already beats TidyCal Free, because TidyCal Free can only check one for conflicts. If you sell session bundles or memberships, TidyCal Free has tools Cal.com's pricing page doesn't mention.
Which is better for taking payments?
Winner: Cal.com on fees. TidyCal on selling formats.
TidyCal charges a 1% platform fee on paid bookings on Free and both lifetime plans, on top of processor fees. Pro removes it, but TidyCal's terms cap 0% fee processing at $10,000 a month, above which "custom pricing may apply."
Cal.com's pricing page lists Stripe and PayPal payments on Free with no platform fee, and its Stripe app page shows the app's price as "Free." We found no published Cal.com commission on bookings. Stripe's or PayPal's processing fees still apply.
TidyCal does more with the payment once it's set up. Every TidyCal plan includes package bookings (several sessions bought at once), subscriptions with recurring Stripe billing, discount codes and a digital storefront that can attach PDFs or templates to a booking. For coaches and tutors, those formats can matter more than 1%.
Which is better for teams?
Winner: Cal.com, for features. TidyCal, for small budgets.
TidyCal Agency gives four people a team booking page, round robin and collective meetings, plus 10 SMS reminders a month to US and Canadian numbers. Teammates use free accounts and connect one calendar each.
Cal.com Teams adds managed event types (admin-controlled templates with locked settings), round robin groups, fixed-host round robin, routing forms, booking analytics, customizable workflows and custom APIs. Organizations adds unlimited sub-teams, attribute-based routing, role-based permissions, SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning and a company subdomain.
A four-person consultancy that just needs to split incoming calls fairly will be fine on TidyCal Agency. A sales team that routes leads by region or account owner needs Cal.com.

Which has better integrations?
Winner: Cal.com.
Both connect Google, Outlook and Apple calendars, and both create Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams links. TidyCal's paid plans add Zapier and a REST API with OAuth 2.0.
Cal.com lists 100+ direct integrations, 20+ video tools, webhooks, Zapier and Make, plus native two-way Salesforce and HubSpot sync on its free plan. It also offers embeddable React components and a platform API for developers building scheduling into their own apps.
Which looks more like your own brand?
Winner: Cal.com on Teams. TidyCal on Pro.
TidyCal's lifetime plans show a "Powered by TidyCal" bar and a TidyCal logo in emails. Pro removes both and adds custom domains: one for your personal page and one for each team.
Cal.com lets every plan set brand colors, a logo and light or dark mode. Teams removes Cal.com branding. Organizations hosts pages on a company subdomain of cal.com rather than your own domain.
Which is better for healthcare and regulated work?
Winner: Cal.com, clearly.
Cal.com's HIPAA page says it signs business associate agreements. A BAA is included at no extra cost on Enterprise and on Organizations with 15 or more users. On Teams or smaller Organizations plans, it costs $300 a month. Cal.com's privacy policy adds that a BAA is available "on Teams plans and up," must be signed before you collect health information, and that health data should stay out of booking fields copied into third-party apps. The Organizations plan lists SOC 2, HIPAA and ISO 27001 compliance, plus US and EU hosting.
TidyCal publishes no BAA, and its terms and privacy policy don't mention HIPAA. That's a problem because TidyCal markets to therapists and counselors. More on this in is TidyCal worth it.
How do their privacy policies and terms compare?
I read both companies' terms and privacy policies on 23 October 2026. My LLB and LLM are why I go through this part line by line. Cal.com's documents are newer and more specific. Here is how they differ.
| Clause | TidyCal | Cal.com |
|---|---|---|
| Role for your clients' booking data | Says it acts as "the data controller" | You're the controller, Cal.com is the processor, under a DPA that's part of the terms for every account |
| Selling data | "We WILL NEVER sell your information" | Doesn't sell or rent personal data or build ad profiles from booking data |
| Advertising cookies | Remarketing, including Google | Ad tags only on the marketing site, with consent |
| AI | AI features on paid plans; the policy doesn't say which provider | AI features are opt-in, and "nothing is used to train anyone's models" |
| Deletion | Kept "only for as long as necessary"; no fixed period | At least 30 days to export, then deletion normally within 90 days, including at subprocessors |
| Subprocessors | Not listed | Named in a Trust Center, with prior notice before new ones |
| Changes to terms | Effective immediately when posted | Prior notice before changes that materially reduce your rights |
| Fee changes | May add or change payment fees "at any time" | Reasonable prior notice; effective at your next billing period |
| Disputes | Texas law; TidyCal may require binding arbitration | Delaware law and courts, with consumers keeping mandatory home-country protections |
| Refunds | Lifetime: AppSumo's 60 days. Pro: 7 days | Generally non-refundable unless the agreement or law requires it |
| Current version | Terms updated 24 August 2026 | Terms version 2.0, effective 1 November 2026 |
The controller point matters most to EU and UK businesses. A scheduling vendor that calls itself a controller of your clients' data is taking a broader role than most data-protection teams expect. Read TidyCal's DPA before using it for client bookings under GDPR.

What this comparison did not do
We did not set up booking pages, connect payment processors or test reminders on either tool for this article. Everything above comes from tidycal.com/pricing, TidyCal's terms and privacy policy, the TidyCal listing and deal terms on appsumo.com, and cal.com/pricing, Cal.com's HIPAA page, Stripe app page, terms and privacy policy, all read on 23 October 2026.
Cal.com's monthly-billing prices weren't shown on its pricing page that day, so all Cal.com figures here are yearly-billing prices. AppSumo deals can sell out or change price. Check both pricing pages on the day you decide.
The short version
Pick Cal.com if you want the best free scheduler, no platform fee on payments, or anything a company or clinic needs: routing, SSO, compliance certifications or a BAA. Pick TidyCal if you're a solo pro or a team of four that wants to pay once, and especially if you sell session packages or memberships. $79 once against $576 a year is hard to argue with when your needs are simple.
