Is TidyCal Worth It? The $29 Deal, the 1% Fee and the Cases Where It Isn't

By Ashikur Rahman12 min read

Affiliate disclosure: CriticNest earns a commission if you buy TidyCal through the AppSumo links on this page. It costs you nothing extra, and it did not change the verdict. TidyCal is owned by Sumo Group, the company behind AppSumo.

Quick answer: Yes, TidyCal is worth it for solo professionals and small teams who need booking pages, calendar sync and simple paid sessions. The $29 Individual lifetime deal replaces a scheduler that costs $120 a year elsewhere. It's not worth it in three cases: you take more than about $9,900 a year in payments through it (the 1% platform fee then costs more than Pro), you need a HIPAA business associate agreement, or you need your own domain without TidyCal branding. Read on 23 October 2026.

What is TidyCal?

TidyCal is an online scheduling tool, a lower-cost alternative to Calendly and Acuity. You share a booking link, clients pick an open time, pay if you charge, and the meeting lands on your calendar with a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link.

It's an "AppSumo Original," built and run by Sumo Group in Austin, Texas, the same company that owns AppSumo. According to Noah Kagan's note on the AppSumo listing, TidyCal launched in 2021 and has since had 480,000+ sign-ups, 9 million+ bookings and $33 million+ collected through paid bookings. Those are company figures. AppSumo's listing separately says 129,971 people bought the lifetime deal.

How much does TidyCal cost?

TidyCal sells four plans. Two are one-time AppSumo deals, and one is a subscription sold on tidycal.com. Here is the ladder from TidyCal's pricing page, read on 23 October 2026.

PlanPricePlatform fee on paymentsCalendarsKey additions

Agency Lifetime (AppSumo)$79 once (list $240)1%10You plus 3 team members, team booking page, round robin, collective meetings, 10 SMS reminders a month (US and Canada)
Pro (tidycal.com)$12 a month or $99 a yearNone (see the cap below)UnlimitedCustom domain, no TidyCal branding, priority support, unlimited SMS reminders

The pricing page's feature table lists Zoom, Teams and Zapier as "Advanced" integrations, included from Individual Lifetime up. Google Calendar, Office 365 and Apple Calendar work on every plan, Free included.

For a side-by-side with Calendly's prices, see our TidyCal vs Calendly comparison. The short version: Calendly Standard was $10 a seat a month billed yearly, or $120 a year, when we checked in September 2026.

See the TidyCal $29 deal on AppSumoTracking link. Individual $29 or Agency $79, one-time.

Is TidyCal free?

Yes, and the free plan is unusually generous. It includes unlimited bookings, unlimited booking types and paid bookings through Stripe and PayPal. You also get recurring and package bookings, subscriptions, discount codes, a digital storefront for PDFs and courses, post-booking reviews, date polls and one-click translation. The limits are one connected calendar, full TidyCal branding and the 1% platform fee on payments.

Compared with Calendly Free, which allows one event type, TidyCal Free is the stronger starting point. If you only need one calendar and don't mind the branding, you may never need to pay.

When does the 1% platform fee make Pro the better buy?

The fee is the single number that decides whether the $29 deal is worth it. Free, Individual Lifetime and Agency Lifetime all charge 1% on paid bookings, on top of the payment processor's own fees. Pro charges none.

Payments taken through TidyCal per year1% fee on a lifetime planPro yearly costCheaper option
$0 (free consultations only)$0$99Lifetime
$5,000$50$99Lifetime
$9,900$99$99Break-even
$25,000$250$99Pro
$60,000$600$99Pro

A coach charging $150 a session hits $9,900 at 66 paid sessions a year, a little over one a week. Past that point, Pro at $99 a year is the cheaper TidyCal plan, and the $29 deal becomes a nice-to-have rather than the best buy.

There's one wording gap. TidyCal's pricing page says the fee is "charged on payments processed through Stripe." The AppSumo listing says it applies "on top of Stripe or PayPal fees." If you plan to take payments through PayPal only, ask TidyCal support which one is right before you rely on it.

Should you buy Individual or Agency?

Buy Individual at $29 if you're the only person taking bookings. Buy Agency at $79 if you need any of these: three teammates on one team page, round robin distribution, collective meetings with several hosts, or SMS reminders.

Teammates don't need their own paid plan. Each signs up for a free TidyCal account and accepts your invite, though on a free account each teammate connects only one calendar. Agency also lets you run several brands, each as its own team with a separate name, logo and URL.

The SMS limit is tight: 10 reminders a month, and only to US and Canadian phone numbers. A practice with 40 appointments a month will run out in the first week. Email reminders work everywhere and are unlimited.

Get TidyCal Agency or IndividualTracking link. Upgrade from Individual to Agency only while the deal is live.

What does the lifetime deal leave out?

  • Your own domain. Booking pages stay on tidycal.com. A custom domain is Pro only.
  • Clean branding. Lifetime plans show a "Powered by TidyCal" bar on your booking page and a TidyCal logo in emails.
  • More than 10 calendars. Lifetime plans connect up to 10 readable calendars and one writable calendar.
  • Priority support. Lifetime support is email. A person answers, according to the AppSumo FAQ, but Pro gets faster replies.
  • Unlimited SMS. Agency gets 10 a month. Individual gets none.

The deal terms also include eligibility rules that are easy to miss. It's "only for TidyCal users who do not have an existing paid account." You must activate it within 60 days, you can upgrade from Individual to Agency only while the deal is still on sale, and you can downgrade only within 60 days of purchase.

Is TidyCal legit and safe to use?

Yes, TidyCal is a legitimate product from an established company. Sumo Group has run AppSumo for well over a decade, and TidyCal is its own product, not a reseller's. On AppSumo it averages 4.3 out of 5 from 936 reviews as of 23 October 2026: 638 five-star, 117 four-star, 84 three-star, 44 two-star and 53 one-star. That's about 81% at four or five stars and about 6% at one star.

On safety, the privacy policy makes the right basic promises. TidyCal says it uses Google Calendar data only to prevent booking conflicts, that bookers "will never have access to see your calendar," and that its use of Google data follows Google's API Limited Use rules. It also states, "We WILL NEVER sell your information to a third party."

Two caveats from the same policy. TidyCal uses remarketing cookies, including Google's, to show you ads for Sumo Group products. And it keeps personal data "only for as long as necessary," with no fixed retention period.

Is TidyCal HIPAA compliant?

We found no evidence that it is. TidyCal's privacy policy and Terms of Service don't mention HIPAA or protected health information. Its site and AppSumo listing don't offer a business associate agreement (BAA). Under HIPAA, a covered entity generally needs a signed BAA with any vendor that handles patient health information.

That matters because TidyCal markets itself to therapists, counselors and veterinarians on its own site. A therapist whose intake questions ask about symptoms, diagnoses or medications would be putting health information into a tool with no published BAA.

If you're a covered healthcare provider, ask TidyCal in writing whether it will sign a BAA before you collect anything clinical. If it won't, use a scheduler that does. Cal.com, for example, says it signs BAAs on its Teams plan and up. A BAA is included free on Enterprise and on Organizations with 15+ users, and costs $300 a month on smaller paid plans. We compare the two in TidyCal vs Cal.com.

Is TidyCal GDPR compliant?

TidyCal's privacy policy has a GDPR section and links to a Data Processing Agreement. It lists the legal bases it relies on (contract, consent and legitimate interests), the rights it honors (access, correction, erasure and others) and an international-transfer clause, because data is processed in the United States.

One detail stands out to a lawyer's eye. The policy says TidyCal "operate[s] as the data controller for the personal data collected and processed through our services." For your clients' booking data, most EU businesses would expect the scheduling vendor to act as their processor, not as a separate controller. If you're bound by GDPR, review the DPA itself before relying on TidyCal for client bookings.

What else is in TidyCal's Terms of Service?

I read the Terms of Service (last updated 24 August 2026) on 23 October 2026. Beyond the fee clause above, these are the points buyers should know:

  • Changes take effect immediately. TidyCal can change the terms at any time, and changes apply as soon as they're posted. There's no notice period.
  • One account per person. The terms say "signing up on this Site with multiple accounts is against our guidelines." The AppSumo FAQ, though, tells Individual buyers to "use a second account for a second business." If you plan to do that, get written approval from support, or buy Agency, which supports multiple brands in one account.
  • Refunds on paid bookings are your job. TidyCal says the host sets the refund policy and it's not responsible for disputes between you and your clients.
  • Pro refunds: a full refund within 7 days of buying a subscription, then none. Lifetime deals follow AppSumo's 60-day window.
  • Downgrades take effect immediately, and TidyCal isn't responsible for features or settings you lose.
  • Disputes: Texas law, and TidyCal can choose to require binding arbitration.

Who should skip TidyCal?

  • HIPAA-covered healthcare providers who collect clinical information at booking
  • High-volume sellers taking well over $10,000 a month through bookings, who would hit both the 1% fee and the Pro GMV cap

What this article did not do

We did not set up a TidyCal booking page, connect Stripe or send reminders for this article. Everything above comes from tidycal.com/pricing, TidyCal's Terms of Service and privacy policy, the TidyCal listing, deal terms and FAQs on appsumo.com, and Cal.com's HIPAA page, all read on 23 October 2026.

AppSumo deals can sell out, change price or come back later. Check the listing and TidyCal's terms on the day you buy.

The short version

TidyCal is worth $29 for most solo service businesses. It does what Calendly's $120-a-year plan does for scheduling and adds packages, subscriptions and a storefront. Do the fee math first: if you'll take more than about $9,900 a year through the booking page, Pro at $99 a year is the better TidyCal plan. And if you handle patient health information, don't use it until TidyCal confirms in writing that it will sign a BAA.

Frequently asked questions

Is TidyCal worth it?

For solo professionals and small teams, yes. The $29 Individual lifetime deal covers booking pages, 10 calendar connections, video links and paid bookings, against $120 a year for Calendly Standard. It's not worth it if you take more than about $9,900 a year in payments, need a HIPAA BAA or require white-label branding.

Is TidyCal free?

Yes. TidyCal Free costs nothing forever and includes unlimited bookings, unlimited booking types, paid bookings through Stripe and PayPal, recurring and package bookings, and translation. It connects one calendar, shows TidyCal branding and charges a 1% platform fee on payments.

Is TidyCal legit?

Yes. TidyCal is built and owned by Sumo Group, the Austin company behind AppSumo, and launched in 2021. It averages 4.3 out of 5 from 936 reviews on AppSumo, and the company reports more than 480,000 sign-ups and 9 million bookings.

Is TidyCal HIPAA compliant?

We found no evidence that it is. TidyCal's privacy policy and terms don't mention HIPAA, and it doesn't publish a business associate agreement. Healthcare providers who collect patient health information should get written confirmation of a BAA first, or use a scheduler that signs one.

Is TidyCal GDPR compliant?

TidyCal's privacy policy includes a GDPR section and links to a Data Processing Agreement. It describes TidyCal as a data controller for data collected through its service. EU businesses should review the DPA to confirm it meets their processor requirements.

Does TidyCal charge a fee on paid bookings?

Yes, 1% on the Free, Individual Lifetime and Agency Lifetime plans, on top of the payment processor's own fees. Pro has no platform fee, but TidyCal's terms cap 0% fee processing at $10,000 a month, above which custom pricing may apply.

What's the difference between TidyCal Individual and Agency?

Individual ($29 once) is for one person. Agency ($79 once) adds three team members, a team booking page, round robin, collective meetings and 10 SMS reminders a month to US and Canadian numbers. Teammates use free TidyCal accounts and don't need their own paid plans.

Can I use my own domain with TidyCal?

Only on Pro, which costs $12 a month or $99 a year. Lifetime plans keep booking pages on tidycal.com and show a "Powered by TidyCal" bar. Pro removes the branding and supports one custom domain for your personal page and one for each team.

Is TidyCal better than Calendly?

TidyCal is cheaper and its free plan is more generous, with unlimited booking types. Calendly offers deeper integrations and team features on its higher tiers. Our TidyCal vs Calendly comparison covers the full price and feature breakdown.

Can I get a refund on TidyCal?

The AppSumo lifetime deal can be refunded within 60 days of purchase. A Pro subscription bought on tidycal.com can be refunded in full within 7 days, then payments are non-refundable. Refunds for your clients' paid bookings are set by you, not TidyCal.

Can existing TidyCal users buy the lifetime deal?

Not if they already have a paid account. AppSumo's deal terms say the deal is "only for TidyCal users who do not have an existing paid account." That wording doesn't exclude free-plan users, and every buyer must activate the license within 60 days.
