What Semrush One Costs, and Whether the $60 AI Layer Is Worth It

By Ashikur Rahman17 min read

Quick answer: Semrush One is the name for three bundled plans: Starter at $199 a month, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549 monthly, or $165.17 and $248.17 and $455.67 a month billed annually. Each bundles the classic SEO toolkit with a fixed number of AI prompts tracked daily: 50, 100 and 200. The plain SEO plan sits underneath at $139 monthly, or $117.33 annually. The finding that matters: buying the SEO plan plus the standalone AI Visibility Toolkit costs $216.33 a month annually for 25 prompts, while Starter costs $165.17 for 50. The bundle is $51.16 a month cheaper and carries twice the prompts. Every figure here was read from Semrush's own pricing page on 19 September 2026.

Semrush One is a name you will not find on the plan cards

Search for Semrush One pricing and you will land on a pricing page that, at first glance, does not sell anything called Semrush One. The four cards are labelled SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced. The three higher cards carry a small subtitle, "SEO + AI Search", and that subtitle is the product. The name itself appears in the site navigation and in the footer, where a line reads "Try Semrush One for Free. The leading platform that unifies SEO authority and AI visibility."

So Semrush One is not a fifth plan and not a separate product you add to a subscription. It is the marketing name for the three tiers that bundle the SEO toolkit with AI visibility tracking. If you can see a prompt count on the card, you are looking at Semrush One. If you cannot, you are looking at the SEO plan.

The name arrived with a press release dated 29 October 2025, which described the product as "an integrated visibility intelligence solution for the AI era, bridging classic SEO and emerging AI search ecosystems." The release listed the same three tiers, quoted Starter at introductory pricing from $165 a month billed annually, and gave the reasoning from the top. CEO Bill Wagner said that "Search Engine Optimization continues to be tablestakes" and that marketers now need new tools for what he called the "always-changing AI visibility equation". CMO Andrew Warden: "By combining SEO and AI into one intelligence layer, Semrush One gives marketers the power to influence every moment of discovery."

What the release did not say is anything about the plans that came before. That silence is the reason so much of what you read about Semrush pricing is wrong, and it gets its own section below.

What Semrush One costs in September 2026

These are the four plans a new buyer can select, with the limits Semrush publishes on each card. Enterprise is a fifth card with no price and a demo request.

PlanMonthlyAnnual, per monthWebsites and daily keywordsAI prompts tracked daily
SEO$139$117.335 websites, 500 keywordsNot published
Starter (Semrush One)$199$165.175 websites, 500 keywords50
Pro+ (Semrush One)$299$248.1715 websites, 1,500 keywords100
Advanced (Semrush One)$549$455.6740 websites, 5,000 keywords200
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimited projects, custom limitsCustom large-scale tracking

Annual billing is described on the page as saving "up to 17%", and the per-month figures above are what one annual payment works out to. Paid for a year, SEO is $1,407.96, Starter is $1,982.04, Pro+ is $2,978.04 and Advanced is $5,468.04.

The steps between tiers are not even. Moving from SEO to Starter on annual billing costs $574.08 a year. Starter to Pro+ costs $996.00. Pro+ to Advanced costs $2,490.00, more than the whole of a Starter subscription. That last step is where the bundle stops being a small-business product, and it is why the Advanced tier makes sense only when the 40 websites or the API access is the thing you are buying.

Beyond prompts, each Semrush One tier adds tools the one below does not have. Starter lists MCP access, one domain for AI brand performance, 300 AI visibility reports per day and an AI-ready Site Audit. Pro+ adds historical SEO data, content optimization, keyword cannibalization analysis and multi-location and device tracking. Advanced adds SEO share of voice and API data integration. If you are choosing between the tiers on SEO capacity rather than on AI features, the guide to the whole ladder is at which Semrush plan you actually need, and this article will not repeat it.

What the $60 AI layer actually buys

On monthly billing, Starter costs $60 more than SEO. On annual billing the gap is $574.08 a year. Same five websites, same 500 keywords. So the entire difference is the AI layer, and the question is what that layer contains.

Here is the detail most comparison articles skip. The SEO plan card lists AI features too. It says "Track performance in AI search", "Monitor AI sentiment", "AI visibility reports for any domain" and "Monitor custom prompts". What it does not say is how many prompts. There is no number on the card, and there is no number in Semrush's Knowledge Base entry for the plan either. Starter is the first tier with a published quota: 50 prompts tracked daily, one domain for AI brand performance, 300 AI visibility reports per day.

That makes the $60 a payment for a quantified allowance rather than for a feature the lower plan lacks. If your AI visibility work is occasional, an ad hoc report on your own domain now and then, the SEO plan already lets you do that, within limits Semrush does not publish. If you need to track a fixed prompt set for a client every day and report on it, you need a plan that states a number, and that starts at Starter.

The second thing to check is what the same allowance costs bought separately. Semrush sells its AI Visibility Toolkit on its own, and when I read that pricing at source on 17 September 2026 for the AI visibility tools pricing comparison, the standalone toolkit was $99 a month billed annually, per domain, with 25 prompts tracked and extra users from $45. Put the SEO plan and the standalone toolkit together and you pay $216.33 a month annually for 25 prompts. Starter is $165.17 for 50. The bundle costs $51.16 a month less and tracks twice as many prompts.

This is the arithmetic that decides the purchase for most people, so here it is per prompt.

Way to buy AI prompt trackingAnnual price per monthPrompts tracked dailyCost per prompt per month
Semrush One Starter$165.1750$3.30
Semrush One Pro+$248.17100$2.48
Semrush One Advanced$455.67200$2.28
SEO plan plus standalone AI Visibility Toolkit$216.3325Higher than any bundle

Two things follow. If you already pay for the SEO plan and are considering the standalone toolkit, price Starter instead, because the bundle is cheaper and bigger. And the per-prompt cost falls with each tier only slowly, so the jump to Advanced is paid for by the SEO capacity, not the prompts.

For context, Otterly sells 15 prompts for $29 a month, 100 for $189 and 400 for $489 a month, while Profound and Peec publish no price at all. Semrush is not the cheapest way to track prompts. It is the cheapest way to track prompts inside the same tool that already holds your keyword and site audit data, which is a different claim and the one that applies to most of the people reading this.

If you were on Guru, read this before you compare anything

If you researched Semrush at any point before late 2025, you learned three plan names, Pro, Guru and Business, and that lineup has been retired. On 3 August 2026 and again on 19 September 2026, a new buyer on semrush.com/pricing could not select any of them. Older articles still quote the entry plan at $139.95, a price no card carries today.

This article does not quote what Guru or Business used to cost or include, because the pages that carried those figures are gone and there is no way to verify a number against a page that no longer exists. Repeating them from another article would be exactly the practice this site exists to avoid. If you are an existing subscriber on one of the old plans, your account shows what you pay and what your limits are, and that is the only reliable source.

The vendor took a while to catch up with itself. When the plan comparison on this site was first written in August 2026, Semrush's own pricing FAQ still asked "Which would be better for me, Guru or Pro?", a question about plans that were no longer offered. By 19 September 2026 that FAQ read "Which would be better for me, SEO, Starter or Pro+?" and a new one had appeared, "I run a small agency. What plan should I choose?" So the retired names have finally left the pricing page, though not the rest of the web.

The practical mapping is simple, and it is about the shape of the ladder rather than the numbers. The old entry plan has become SEO, priced within a dollar of where the old entry price sat. Everything above it now carries AI prompts you may or may not want. That means a buyer who used to pick the middle tier for more websites and keywords is now also paying for 100 prompts, whether or not they will track them. If the extra capacity is the point and the prompts are not, the comparison worth reading is what you get from cheaper tools stacked next to the SEO plan, because there is no longer a mid-tier without the AI layer.

Transparency note: CriticNest has no affiliate or commercial relationship with Semrush, Ahrefs, Otterly or any other tool named on this page. Nothing here is a paid placement and every link is a plain link. Semrush runs an affiliate program that pays $200 per subscription sale and $10 per trial on a 120-day cookie, according to its own program page read on 3 August 2026; this site has not joined it, and if that ever changes the disclosure will move to the top of this article. Every price and plan limit was read from Semrush's own pricing page and Knowledge Base on 19 September 2026, and where Semrush publishes no figure this article says so instead of estimating one.

Four lines the plan card leaves out

Every Semrush plan includes one user. Every plan sells reporting as an extra. These four add-ons are on the pricing page below the cards and they change the real monthly bill for anyone who works with a colleague or reports to a client.

Add-onPriceWhat it is for
Additional usersStarting at $45 a month eachA colleague's own login on your account; Knowledge Base says "starts at $45 per month" on SEO Toolkit plans
Lead Generation$90 a monthA branded profile on the Semrush Agency Partners platform plus a verified badge
Base Report$10 a monthData from 20+ Semrush tools, Google Analytics and Search Console integrations, scheduling, PDF export
Pro Report$20 a monthEverything in Base plus 20+ external integrations, branding and white-labeling, AI-generated summaries, sharing by link

The one that bites freelancers is the last row. If you send a client a report under your own name, you need Pro Report, and the real entry cost of Semrush becomes $159 a month, or $137.33 on annual billing, rather than $139. That calculation, and how Ahrefs handles the same job, is worked through in the freelancer comparison of Semrush and Ahrefs. The point here is that Semrush One did not change any of it. The bundle adds prompts; it does not add a second seat or a branded report.

How Ahrefs prices the same AI prompts

The nearest like-for-like comparison is Ahrefs, which also bundles AI prompt tracking into its main plans and also sells depth separately. Read on 19 September 2026, Ahrefs Lite at $129 includes 5 tracked AI prompts in Brand Radar, Standard at $249 includes 10, Advanced at $449 includes 20 and Enterprise at $1,499 starts from 83. Prompt checks per month run 150, 300, 600 and from 2,500 on the same ladder. Below all of that sits Ahrefs Starter at $29 a month. Above the bundles sits Brand Radar AI as a standalone from $199 a month, plus prompt packages at $50 or $100 or $250 a month.

PlanMonthly priceAI prompts trackedRank tracking updates
Semrush One Starter$19950 dailyDaily
Ahrefs Lite$1295Weekly
Semrush One Pro+$299100 dailyDaily
Ahrefs Standard$24910Weekly
Ahrefs Advanced$44920Weekly

Read across the rows and the pattern is clear. Ahrefs gives fewer prompts at each price and quantifies every one. Semrush gives more prompts at each price and, on the plan below the bundle, does not quantify them at all. Ahrefs also updates rank tracking weekly on every plan, while Semrush tracks daily from the SEO plan up. For client reporting, that column matters more than the prompt count.

On seats, Ahrefs charges $40 a month for an additional user on Lite, $60 on Standard, $80 on Advanced and $100 on Enterprise, against Semrush's $45 starting figure. Neither vendor includes a second person in any plan price.

The trial, the refund window and the once-per-account rule

The pricing page says "Try Semrush free for seven days. Cancel anytime." The Knowledge Base adds a condition most people miss: "Each toolkit trial can be activated once per account." If you trialled Semrush years ago on the same email, expect to be asked for a card and billed at the end of the seven days rather than offered another free week.

On leaving, the pricing FAQ is direct: "Yes, you can cancel your subscription, downgrade or upgrade your plan at any time, unless you have custom terms and a signed agreement with us." Downgrading is an option, which matters for Semrush One specifically. If you buy Starter for the prompts and find you are not tracking them, you can step down to SEO rather than out of the product.

There is also a free plan, which the Knowledge Base describes as one demo project and 10 reports per day across the main tools, with limited AI visibility features. It is enough to see the interface and not enough to run a site on. If a single site is all you have, the honest answer to whether you need any paid plan is in whether Semrush is overkill for a one person website, and the answer there did not change when the bundle launched.

Who owns Semrush now, and where else it turns up

Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush on 28 April 2026, at $12.00 a share and about $1.9 billion in cash, according to Adobe's own newsroom. Semrush is a wholly owned subsidiary. The plan structure described above predates the deal and the pricing page did not change when it closed, so there is no "Adobe pricing" to look for. It does mean the company setting Semrush One's price now has its own analytics products, which is worth knowing when you sign an annual contract.

The toolkit also turns up inside other people's software. Lovable's documentation for its SEO and AI search review states that "Semrush-powered SEO research has no additional cost through September 15, 2026". That date has passed and this article makes no claim about what replaced it, but it shows Semrush being distributed as a data layer inside tools that are not Semrush.

Who should not buy the bundle

Semrush One is priced for people who will watch AI prompts every day and answer to somebody about them. If that is not you, the extra spend is quiet waste. Four cases where the SEO plan or nothing is the better buy:

You run one website. Five websites and 500 keywords is already more than one site uses, and a prompt allowance on top of that is capacity you will not fill. Take SEO, or one of the cheaper tools, and track a handful of prompts by hand.

You want AI visibility for a single client, occasionally. The SEO plan lists AI visibility reports for any domain and custom prompt monitoring without a published quota. Run those, and only step up when you hit a limit you can name.

You need more websites and keywords, not prompts. There is no Semrush tier above SEO without the AI layer, so you will pay for prompts either way. Price Pro+ against Ahrefs Standard at $249, where unverified projects and the weekly rank tracker are the real variables, before you decide.

You need a second seat more than you need prompts. A colleague's login is $45 a month on any plan. If the choice is between Starter for one person and SEO for two, the second seat does more for a two-person shop than 50 prompts do.

Who should buy it: an agency or freelancer reporting AI visibility to clients, on more than one domain, who was about to pay for the standalone toolkit. For that buyer Starter is cheaper than the two-product route by $51.16 a month and doubles the prompts, and Pro+ is where 15 websites and cannibalization analysis start to earn the extra $996.00 a year. What you do with the prompt data is a separate question, and the mechanics of earning citations are in how AI Overviews choose what to cite.

The short version

Semrush One is the name for the Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans, which bundle the SEO toolkit with 50, 100 or 200 AI prompts tracked daily at $199 or $299 or $549 a month, or $165.17 and $248.17 and $455.67 annually. The plain SEO plan at $139 lists AI features but publishes no prompt count. The decision rule: if you were going to buy the SEO plan and the standalone AI Visibility Toolkit, buy Starter instead, because it is $51.16 a month cheaper and tracks twice the prompts. If you were not going to buy the toolkit at all, stay on SEO, because the bundle adds prompts and nothing else you cannot already reach. Budget $45 for every extra seat and $20 for branded reports on any tier. Use the seven-day trial once, on your real work, and remember it is once per account. All prices were read on semrush.com on 19 September 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What is Semrush One?

Semrush One is the name Semrush gives to its three bundled plans, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced, which combine the classic SEO toolkit with AI visibility tracking. On the pricing page the cards are labelled "SEO + AI Search" and the Semrush One name appears in the navigation and footer rather than on the cards. It is not a separate product or add-on. The bundles were announced in a press release dated 29 October 2025.

How much does Semrush One cost per month?

Starter is $199 a month, Pro+ is $299 and Advanced is $549 when billed monthly. Billed annually the per-month equivalents are $165.17 for Starter, $248.17 for Pro+ and $455.67 for Advanced, which Semrush describes as saving up to 17%. Enterprise has custom pricing. The plain SEO plan, which is not part of Semrush One, is $139 monthly or $117.33 annually. All figures read from semrush.com on 19 September 2026.

What is the difference between the Semrush SEO plan and Semrush One Starter?

Both include 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily. Starter adds a published AI allowance: 50 prompts tracked daily, one domain for AI brand performance, 300 AI visibility reports per day, MCP access and an AI-ready Site Audit. The SEO plan lists AI visibility features but publishes no prompt count. The difference in price is $60 a month on monthly billing or $574.08 a year on annual billing.

Is Semrush One worth it over the SEO plan?

Yes if you will track a fixed set of AI prompts daily and report on them, no if you will not. The clearest test is the standalone comparison: the SEO plan plus the standalone AI Visibility Toolkit costs $216.33 a month annually for 25 prompts, while Starter costs $165.17 for 50. If you were going to buy the toolkit, the bundle is cheaper and larger. If you were not, the SEO plan already covers occasional AI checks.

How many AI prompts does each Semrush One plan track?

Starter tracks 50 prompts daily, Pro+ tracks 100 and Advanced tracks 200. Enterprise offers custom large-scale prompt tracking. Per prompt, that works out to $3.30 a month on Starter, $2.48 on Pro+ and $2.28 on Advanced at annual prices. The SEO plan below the bundle lists custom prompt monitoring but publishes no quota, so it cannot be priced per prompt.

What happened to the Semrush Guru plan?

Pro, Guru and Business were retired and are no longer offered to new buyers on the pricing page, checked on 3 August 2026 and again on 19 September 2026. This article does not quote their old prices because the pages that carried them no longer exist. Existing subscribers should check their own account for what they pay. Semrush's own pricing FAQ compared Guru and Pro until at least August 2026, which is why older advice still uses those names.

Does Semrush One have a free trial?

Yes. The pricing page says "Try Semrush free for seven days. Cancel anytime." The Knowledge Base adds that each toolkit trial can be activated once per account, so a second trial on the same account is not available. There is also a permanent free plan with one demo project and 10 reports per day, which is enough to see the interface but not to run a site.

Can I cancel or downgrade Semrush One?

Yes. Semrush's pricing FAQ states you can cancel, downgrade or upgrade at any time unless you have custom terms and a signed agreement. Downgrading matters for the bundle specifically: if you buy Starter for the prompts and do not use them, you can step down to the SEO plan rather than leaving the product. Annual plans are billed as one payment, so check the refund terms before committing to a year.

How does Semrush One compare with Ahrefs for AI prompt tracking?

Ahrefs includes fewer prompts at each price and quantifies every one: 5 on Lite at $129 a month, 10 on Standard at $249 a month, 20 on Advanced at $449 a month and from 83 on Enterprise at $1,499 a month, with prompt checks of 150, 300, 600 and from 2,500 a month. Ahrefs also sells Brand Radar AI from $199 a month and prompt packages at $50 or $100 or $250 a month. For $199 a month Semrush One Starter gives 50 daily prompts and tracks rankings daily, where Ahrefs updates weekly on every plan.

Who owns Semrush now?

Adobe. It completed the acquisition of Semrush on 28 April 2026 at $12.00 a share, about $1.9 billion in cash, and Semrush is now a wholly owned Adobe subsidiary. The Semrush One plan structure predates the deal and the pricing page did not change when it closed, so there is no separate Adobe pricing to look for.
